Patients Rights and Responsibilities
You have the right to
- Register and receive treatment regardless of your sex, age, disability, race or income provided you live within the nominal catchment area. A copy of this is on the notice board in the main Reception area.
- Receive information on health services
- Have your treatment explained to you
- Refuse to be treated in front of medical students or to be involved in medical trials
- Have a relative or friend with you
- Have access to an interpreter
- Have access to emergency medical care
- Confidentiality
- Complain without discrimination
- Have access to contraceptive and maternity advice
You are responsible for
- Making and keeping appointments
- Informing the surgery if you cannot keep an appointment
- Treating all primary health team members with courtesy and respect
- Using the emergency services responsibly
- Behaving in an acceptable manner and keeping children in your care under control
- Switching off mobile phones whilst on the surgery premises
- Informing the Practice of any change of name, address or telephone number
